Life's A Pitch Brief

Demonstrate how you can make this an exciting place to be for creatives

Working in groups, you will produce ideas/concepts for an event or creative opportunity in Leeds. The event you intend to produce and organize should be innovative, address the local or wider creative community, considering various potential audiences in and outside the University. This is an opportunity to contribute as an active and creative member of the city. You will work collaboratively to deliver and prepare a 10-minute pitch presentation deck to an audience of peers and faculty (your potential clients). How you present your ideas must excite and engage the audience/client – you don't always need polished visuals or highly finished work to sell an idea. Pitches will be judged and successful concepts will be selected for further development with the support from all Level 5 year groups.

The event could be an Exhibition, Series of Talks, Podcast, Workshop, Screening, Performance, Public Space, Project Room, Pop up space, Reading group, etc? In your pitch, you should consider budget, venue, location, logistics, materials, technology, branding, marketing and most importantly a strong rationale for your ideas.

Evidence of research into appropriate events or creative opportunities in Leeds. This should include documentation and real-life engagement with local events and activities (exhibitions, galleries, talks, etc).

You will document your research and independent insights on your PPP blog as you progress. This will culminate with a summary post that explains your personal take on the project, your individual experience and how this collaborative brief has educated you in your practice.

Deliverables:
  1. A pitch presentation deck performed by the group (including a short session of Q&A afterward)
  2. A copy of your pitch presentation with any supporting appropriate visual materials (PDF, Powerpoint, Video, etc)
  3. A minimum of 6 x A3 design boards that clearly explain the narrative behind your investigative journey. To include:

  • Initial Ideas
  • Design Development
  • Final Design / Production
  • Evaluation
  1. PPP Blog: Evidence of the research and development for your pitch presentation with visual material should be posted to your PPP Blog and labeled with the module code (UOGD502) and studio brief code (SB2).
