Critique of Ideas + Development
To Do:
- Game content in instagram format
- Adapt the cards so that there are tiers to the difficulty of the game.
- Could change the colour of the blue and green cards - darker to make them more legible
- What will the cards be printed onto - will they be laminated or glossy like playing cards?
- Research USTWO games
- Research Cory Arcangel
- How is box/packaging going to look?
- Will there be equipment you could use to throw the dice (8 bit?)
- 8 Bit design/aesthetic for game board

Notes
- The board game idea is the strongest idea of the three initial ideas, from the original idea of having a board game where you move through the board by answering gaming related questions which would give you access to certain rewards for the child (game time on computer) and the adult (child doing household chaws); to a more physical activity of using a set of cards with gaming terms on them, which would have activities related to them i.e. 'RAGE QUIT' would involve the breaking or hitting of an object, or 'NOOB' which would involve user trying a skill game such as juggling which they may not be very good at, like a noob. Players would pick these cards up when they land on a certain section of the board after answering their previous question.
- Another idea for the game was a charades like game which would work in rounds. The first round would be a charades based answering style, 2nd round would be a picture based answering round, the 3rd would be a quiz based round and the last would be anagram based game. The promotional media for this game would be images of people of different ages playing with stickers/key game information on their forehead.

Critique of Ideas
In attempt to lower the amount of gaming/screen time children are having nowadays. We are making a game to encourage more family time to provide balance to their life.
The rules are simple, for each question answered correctly the player gets to role a dice to see how many squares they can move, whichever colour square they land on is the next colour question card they answer. The question cards have a focus on getting the kids and adults involved in physical and mental challenges .
Feedback
Don’t understand what the four cards at the start of the presentation are, where do they fit in? Do you have to make a question from the examples given to us?
Nice use of typography on the cards and board - the typeface links thematically to the theme of gaming in general. Although it can be a little difficult to read on some of the coloured backgrounds like the blue and green.
It would’ve been nice to see the products printed out to see how they would appear ‘in the flesh’ this would enable us to get a tactile feeling and help us engage more in the work.
Does the game have a name? If so, it’s not clear.
Also how would the game fit within a square instagram format? How would you consider presenting the information.
The questions are not clear and a little confusing as to which questions you were referring to but I realised after a while.
Your design skills and the use the typography and colour is great and the pixel square aesthetics fits really well with a game aesthetics.
The white text on cars is a little difficult to read against the bright colours, maybe try another colour for the text?
What will you print the cards onto? Will they be laminated or like playing cards?
- Theres a ‘“ missing after the rage quit card quote.
- Theory clear with great examples of what the game would look like.
- There could be a levelling system so that you can go up a stage like in gaming. Beginner, advanced cards
- How would it look when its put on instagram if you don’t want the game digital? How would you get it out in the public?
- How do the first set of cards link with the rest? Could this be a quick fire question thing?
- V engaging and would work on the target audience.
The style of the coloured cards communicate the theme of gaming well. You could potentially use the 8 bit lines from the cards on the board… I like the idea of the gaming quotes but what do they have do with the game?
