Show an understanding of the market
- How is ours different and similar to these approaches? i.e. instagram stories or booklets
How do designer/businesses advertise and spread the word of their work through instagram?
- i.e. daily stories; regularity of posts - and their relevence to a project; layout of their feed - does the feed form one or a couple collages?
Example Pages:
MuirMcneil - Aesthetic presented clearly through layout of feed
MuirMcneil's have an instantly recognisable aesthetic to their work, which is presented through their instagram posts, which when placed on the same feed (as seen above) work in unison and creates a page that communicates MuirMcneil's aesthetic approach to design clearly, while still showcasing variation.
One downside to the page is that the posts rarely have captions, so it is difficult to see what the posts are in relation to (i.e. what they are responding to).
The stories on their page present the same pieces as seen on the feed; but through a different media, i.e. gif or video as seen above. The gif just simply reveals different parts of the image as the video goes on, but still presents a very different aesthetic.
Pomona Studio (Design & Fashion & Art direction) - Consistent Framing draws viewers eye
Pomona Studio present their all their posts in the same framing, which brings the aesthetic into one collective that is visually pleasing and makes the page simply to navigate as the viewers line of sight is consistently looking at the same positions on the page (where the works are place in the framing).
Atelier Bebop (illustration / murals) - Colours and Forms presented in consistently in feed
Atelier Bebop has a very consistent colour scheme and aesthetic, which is presented through a number of media i.e. pictures of murals posters, videos and gifs. With clear descriptive captions along with these, the viewer can quickly get a full understanding of the image/video and how it relates to the project. The layout clearly presents all the final work which has been used for each project giving the viewer a full sense of the scale and of the project.
